Checklist: Running Your NLNL Event
Checklist
1. Arrive at the space early and in time to do a sound check and troubleshoot any tech issues (trust me, there are always issues).
2. Blacking out your space: remember that you do not want the room to be so dark that people feel intimidated or unsafe.
3. Do a safety check (exit signs are visible, nothing on the floor that someone might trip on, music isn't too loud).
4. Put signs up (welcome sign, please close the door, etc).
5. Give an introduction to the NLNL experience before allowing people into the space. Ensure that they understand the importance of not talking, not looking at phones, not taking photos, etc.
6. Count people as they enter the space to ensure you do not go over the capacity of the room.
7. It's an NLNL tradition to call out "last track" just before the last upbeat track. This gives everyone the opportunity to give it their all for one last song.
8. As an ambassador, it's your job to set the energy in the room. Try clapping and "woooohoooing" between tracks your community will follow your lead. Also, and this may sound super daggy, but get everyone clapping along to a song. It’s wonderful how it unites everyone on the dancefloor. Once you've instigated this a few times it will start happening organically.
9. Turn the lights up a little while people stretch and cool down for the final song or two.
